Adventures in Mommyhood: 18 Months

I can't believe Lilly is already 18 months old. Time has flown by, just yesterday we celebrated her 1st birthday. Things have been going very smoothly since she turned 1 and she is on a very precise schedule. She is now going to preschool 3 times a week because I have gone back to work very part time and she is loving every minute of it. Her teachers are great and she's really benefited from the interaction with her teachers and the other kids, which is something she really needed. She does great with the other kids and she has been learning a lot everyday. She has transitioned to one long nap a day right after she gets home from preschool and goes to sleep on her own every night around 7:30 and sleeps all through the night! We did move her into a bigger room and her and I both love it. I get a bulk of my house work done when she is napping and after she goes to sleep at night. Other then those times it's close to impossible to keep the house tidy when she is awake and playing.

Okay, so let's be really honest here, I was completely terrified when I made the decision to leave work and become a stay-at-home mom. I have been working since I was 14 years old, from babysitting...to temporary summer jobs in high school...to working at a local restaurant...to a receptionist...to working in retail... then back to office work, I don't know what it's like to not have a job. I mean when I was in college I had an almost full-time retail job plus a full-time internship while still going to class. I don't know how not to work. So this endeavor to say the least is a challenge, not a difficult challenge because I love being at home with the little one all day, but I'm only 3 months in and I'm not satisfied. Yes, I love being able to be home and take care of Lilly and watch her develop and keep our house functioning, but I feel like I'm not fulfilling my potential. I had all these hopes and dreams to open my own store or move up in the corporate retail world, but right now neither are feasible. I have all these ideas and creative juices flowing and I'm trying to find ways to hone in on those while I stay home and ultimately try and "have it all."

But really...can we have it all? I know a lot of you moms out there have experienced this or are going through it right now as well. I'm still adjusting to the stay-at-home-mom thing and trying to figure out a way to make it all work. I'm hoping to find something I do that I'm passionate about and am using my skills toward while also fulfilling my duties as a wife and mother. How have you made it all work? Can we have it all? What are some ways you adjusted to staying at home full-time?

mommy confessions: my love of the genie bra

Ok so I have a confession, I am in love with the Genie Bra. Yes the info-mercial, too-good-to-be-true Genie Bra. I bought one of these at Walmart a couple of weeks before I had Lilly because I did not fit into my bras anymore and underwire was way too painful. I tried it on and I fell in love instantly. They are amazingly comfortable and look perfect under clothes. If you get the correct size there is no sagging or anything. They are very supportive and are great for nursing and sleeping and have removable cup inserts. I went back to Walmart and bought a lot more and I'm still wearing them now.  Love, Love Love them!
